KOZHIKODE: Education minister C. Raveendranath hopes to conduct the Pravesanolsavam on June 1 the next academic year despite the deluge that devastated many schools.

Addressing a review meeting here on Thursday, he said they had lost several academic hours to calamities including the Nipah outbreak, landslides and the floods.

A detailed master plan for the mission will be ready at the earliest, he said, as 141 schools entirely dilapidated needed urgent attention. He sought from schools an academic master plan and action plan by November 30.

He also said all the assembly constituencies would have one swimming pool each for the students to get trained in water. Officials will have to assess damages, based on which they would take necessary steps for a district-wise master plan prepared for the renovation of the government schools.

By December, schools must complete their academic programme. He also advised making use of the District Panchayat fund for the immediate relief of damaged schools.

Even the infrastructure development of these schools has to be taken care of by the district administration or the district panchayath. MLA A. Pradeep Kumar presided over the meeting. The State coordinator of public education rejuvenation C. Radhakrishnan, DDE E.K. Suresh Kumar and other officials were present.
