Hyderabad High Court denies bail to Aradhana Samdhariya's parents

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday refused anticipatory bail to Lakshmichand Samdhariya and his wife, parents of Aradhana Samdhariya, the 13-year-old girl who died from cardiac arrest after fasting for 61 days during the holy period of ‘Chaumasa’.
Justice Suresh Kumar Kait was dealing with the petition by Samdhariya and his wife.
Counsel for the petitioners told the court that observing fast during the holy period of ‘Chaumasa’ is a religious custom and part of the Jain faith, and the entire community was shocked with the developments.
While pointing out that granting anticipatory bail would not be the right solution, the judge observed that the couple were young and should have ensured that their children spend their time going to school and enjoying themselves rather than fasting.
