Krishna drinking water supply cut hits Hyderabad's ESI Hospital
Hospital officials claim the lack of water supply has not caused much trouble, patients have a different version to tell.
Hyderabad: ESI hospital in Nacharam is in dire straits since Wednesday because of disruption of water supply to the building. Due to shut down of Krishna drinking water supply project phase-II, water supply has hit many areas including Nacharam.
The hospital’s inpatients and their attendants and staff are suffering as there is no water for surgeries and in the washrooms. The hospital received water tanker on Thursday evening.
When contacted, HMWSSB, Transmission Manager for Moula Ali, Kiran Kumar said that there is a shortage of tankers in the area because of which water could not be supplied earlier. He said that the water connection may be restored by Saturday.
While the hospital officials claim the lack of water supply has not caused much trouble, patients have a different version to tell.
Dr Srinivas, Deputy Superintendent of the hospital and Dr Suresh, Resident Medical Officer said that just 1-2 elective operations which could be delayed were postponed whereas emergency works are not hindered as the hospital has maintained some water reserves. They said that if required patients can be sent to private hospitals in emergency situations.
However, the patients and their attendants in the maternity ward of the hospital claimed that around nine surgeries were postponed which were scheduled to have been conducted on Friday. It was alleged that one of the woman patients was taken in an ambulance to another hospital under emergency.
