Warangal: Political equations are changing fast in Parkal constituency, thanks to the Mahakutami, with former rivals Telugu Desam and Congress joining hands and promising support to each other during the elections.
This has put Ms Konda Surekha, who recently joined the Congress and declared that she would contest from Parkal, in a difficult situation.

It is learnt that Parkal Congress incharge Enag-ala Venkatram Reddy, who has a strong following, has extended support to the TD which is expected to field Mr Revuri Prakash Reddy from the constituency. It is also agreed that Mr Prakash Reddy’s cadre would help Congress candidate Don-thu Madhava Reddy defeat the TRS’ Peddi Sudarshan Reddy in Narsampet.

The Congress has refused to let go of Narsampet as demanded by the TD on the ground that it could not deny its sitting MLA Mr Prakash Reddy, who wanted to contest from Narsampet, was asked to choose between Parkal or Warangal East.

As the TD does not have much of a following in Warangal East, the party chose Parkal and Mr Prakash Reddy agreed to contest from there with help from the Congress.

In this scenario, Ms Surekha may be asked to contest from Warangal East, from where won in 2014, again. The TD wanted Parkal as its candidate Challa Dharma Reddy had won 2014.

Mr Prakash Reddy said even after Mr Dharma Reddy defected to the TRS, the cadre has remained with the TD and the party has retained its strength in the past four years fighting against the failures of the ruling TRS. He said the Parkal seat would be allotted to the TD at any cost.

Ms Surekha and her husband MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao are readying their cadre in Parkal. Even though they have not started an official campaign, they have been participating in several programmes in the constituency.
