The 14 storey accomodtion at Gachibowli stadium can be used as hotel.
Hyderabad: More than a decade after constructing the 14- storey accommodation complex at Gachibowli stadium, is likely to be used as a hotel. Sports Authority of Telangana (SATS) had earlier engaged a consultancy to chalk out a plan effectively utilizing it. According to SATS, even the consultancy confirmed that the best use-case is a hotel. The building was erected with a budget of Rs 70 crore in 2007, with each floor having about 36 rooms. Interior work had been left incomplete from the eighth to the 14th floors.
It may be mentioned here that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Assembly in November2017 said that the building was lying unused. SATS Chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy said, “Hotel is only the best option for the complex. It will facilitate stay for the people attending events in the stadium which happen round the year. There are several people coming and viewing the complex to setup activities and we are hopeful that something will materialize soon”
The accommodation complex termed as 'Games Village', was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy for the 2007 World Military Games. The only time the complex was used to its full capacity was in 2016.No concrete offer has been made yet to any company. However, such reports had earlier emerged that the building would be given to a hotel group in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. The building’s name surfaced as a complex for startups, cancer research, hotel and even the temporary high court.
