DC impact: O Rukkamma’s body cremated

Shanto Lal, general convener of Porattam, an activist group said CPI (Maoist) should be allowed to make a statement on whether any of their cadres are amongst the killed persons by suspending operations of the thunderbolt.

Hyderabad: The highly decomposed body of O. Rukkamma, which had been detained at the Osmania General Hospital over a spelling mistake, was handed over to the Second Chance Trust (SCT) on Monday morning for the last rites.

The trust employees stated that the body was in a highly decomposed state and they immediately carried out the cremation rituals.

Mr Jasper Paul, founder member of SCT, said, “Not a single question was asked. We were just called and the body handed over. But its condition upset us the most. My team has been involved in the last rites of more than 100 destitute and we never felt so helpless.”
