Indian media can do anything for TRP Ratings, says Elvish Yadav
Elvish Yadav, took a stand against a portion of the media, asserting that they are willing to tarnish reputations for the sake of TRPs.
Elvish Yadav, the recent winner of Bigg Boss OTT 2 and renowned YouTuber, has reportedly issued a warning of filing a defamation lawsuit against Bharatiya Janata Party MP and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi. This comes after an FIR was registered against him in connection with a case involving snake venom supply in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
In a video blog, Elvish Yadav placed the blame on Maneka Gandhi for damaging his image and expressed confidence that the truth would emerge in due course. He stated in Hindi, "I have been accused by Maneka Gandhi ji, who labeled me as the head of the snake supplier. I will take legal action against her; I will not let this pass. I am now actively involved in all these matters. Previously, I used to think that it was a waste of my time, but now my reputation is at stake."
Elvish Yadav urged those watching not to rush to judgment based on the allegations and to wait for the police investigation to unfold. He promised to share a comprehensive video once the investigation commences to prove his innocence. He affirmed, "I say this with complete confidence. A press statement will be issued, confirming that Elvish Yadav had no involvement in this case. Please watch that and share it as well."
In a personalized YouTube video, the winner of the second season of the web-based spin-off of the popular reality show clarified, "When I woke up, I saw the FIR, which mentioned that Maneka Gandhi's NGO (People for Animals) had filed the case. That lady claimed that I was carrying snakes around my neck. All of that was part of a music video shoot and nothing else. I will not tarnish my own or my family's name by engaging in illegal activities. If I were even remotely involved in this case, I would surrender myself, regardless of the punishment—be it 10 or 100 years. Everyone knows that I would never stoop so low as to engage in such activities."
Furthermore, Elvish criticized a segment of the media, highlighting their capacity to harm a person's reputation for the sake of higher TRPs.
"Today I realised that social media and especially our Indian media can do anything. You can make someone reach new heights and make someone fall by spreading fake news and you won't even apologize after that. Just for the TRP, channel name and viewership, the media don't even see that the name of the person in front is getting spoiled. I only make YouTube videos, a clothing brand that is going to launch shortly and I do trading in the share market. That's all I don't need any other work," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Elvish Yadav appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the case.
In the case related to the alleged supply of snake venom at rave parties, Elvish and five others were named by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Five of the accused were apprehended and placed in 14 days of judicial custody. Elvish has vehemently denied the charges and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the police during the investigation.
Previously, in an Instagram video posted on Friday, the YouTuber asserted his innocence, asserting that he had no involvement in the matter.
On Saturday, Elvish was stopped by the police for questioning while traveling with friends in a car in Rajasthan's Kota. After verifying his status with the Noida Police, he was allowed to continue his journey.
As for the details of the snake venom case, Noida Police reported that nine snakes, including cobras, were rescued from individuals who had come to a banquet hall in Sector 51 for a party, which was a sting operation conducted by the animal rights group People for Animals (PFA). Additionally, 20 ml of snake venom was seized.
The police clarified that Elvish was not present at the banquet hall in Noida during the incident. The authorities are currently collecting evidence and will investigate Elvish Yadav's involvement in the case, following which legal action will be taken as necessary. The FIR against Elvish and five others was registered under the Wildlife (Protection) Act and the IPC based on a complaint from Gaurav Gupta of the PFA. Gupta alleged that Elvish and his associates had illicitly organized rave parties and filmed videos involving snakes and snake venom in Noida and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).
