Andhra Pradesh: Know India' programme from today

The programme has been launched by the Tourism and Culture ministry.

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is, for the first time, offering stalls free of cost to star hotels and shopping malls from the city coinciding with the Diwali festival.

Vijayawada: To promote Indian culture and traditions world-wide, AP is hosting a programme ‘Know India’ to guide non-resident Indian youth. The programme has been launched by the Tourism and Culture ministry. From Tuesday, the NRI team will visit the Devine Temple Kanaka Durga, Amaravati temple and the Museum as a part of a five-day tour. Later it will visit, Kuchipudi village to know the origin of the internationally famous dance format. The team will visit Pavitra Sangamam, Buddist caves at Guntupalli, Polavaram project, the beauty of Vishakapatnam, Tribal Dancing and Vishaka Steel plant.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, tourism and cultural department secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena said, “The programme of the NRI youth will be six days. Their accommodations at Vijayawada, Rajamahendravaram and Vishakapatnam will be arranged by the tourism department. To give an idea of Indian culture and tradition is the main perspective,” Dr D. Vijay Bhaskar, director, language and cultural department, will guide the NRI team.
