Bengaluru: Lovers commit suicide in city
Hari's relatives, however, urged Nisarga's parents to accept their relationship, but they refused.
Bengaluru: Following opposition from parents for their love affair, a man and his lover, a PU student, committed suicide by hanging at a rented house at Sarakki Signal in Kumaraswamy Layout on Monday night.
Police found a suicide note which allegedly stated their parents’ opposition to their affair. Police identified the deceased as Sri Hari, a native of Srinivasapura in Kolar district and working in a private firm in the city and Nisarga (18) studying PU at a Malleswaram college.
According to police, Hari was staying with his mother at Kumaraswamy Layout after his father passed away a few years ago. Nisarga’s father is a car driver.
Hari and Nisarga were distant relatives and fell in love four years ago. Nisarga’s parents came to know about their affair six months ago and told her to call off the relationship.
Hari’s relatives, however, urged Nisarga’s parents to accept their relationship, but they refused.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Hari’s mother had gone to her hometown five days ago. On Monday, while Hari was alone, he called Nisarga to his house and told her that her parents were not going to accept their relationship and it is better to end their lives.
Police said the two then hanged themselves and left behind a death note. The incident came to light when the house owner, Ramu, peeped into the window around 10.45 pm on Monday and saw them hanging to the ceiling and alerted the police.
