Jap learning centre to come up at Cusat
President of Shimane University Yasunao Hattori will inaugurate the new language centre.
Kochi: Cochin University of Science and Technology is joining hands with Shimane University in Japan to set up a learning centre in the Japanese language at Cusat in order to enable professionals aspiring for employment in Japan learn the Japanese language and get the desired score.
The centre is slated to be inaugurated on December 17. As per the agreement between the universities, Japanese language teacher sponsored by the Shimane University, Miki Sensei will be in Cusat for the next three years for assisting in Japanese language teaching.
“Japan is planning to rope in over 5000 Indian professionals including those in IT and knowing the language is key to their performance there. Hence they have come forward to fund this centre while we provide the space for it. In the new warmth in Indo-Japan relationship, this centre is going to be very important for Indians aspiring to find a job in Japan,” said Dr K K Saju, Director, International Relations and Academic Admissio-ns (IRAA) of Cusat.
He said that the city of Matsue where the Shim-ane University is located will partner with the city of Kochi in a number of initiatives in the coming days. “This will aim at solving civic issues through use of technology like waste disposal, drinking water availability, conservation of environment and others,” he added.
The Shimane University is also proposing to start a one year PG diploma course in Entrepreneurship and Management with University of West London and Cusat as partnering university. The new Japanese language centre would be useful in assisting those who undergo this course. President of Shimane University Yasunao Hattori will inaugurate the new language centre.
