J&K: 261 jailed in UP, Haryana

Majority of these are part of the 261 prisoners from J&K who are currently lodged in prisons across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

New Delhi: Following the revocation of Article 370 in J&K, security agencies had shifted a large number of prisoners from the state to other parts of the country as part of a preventive measure.

Majority of these are part of the 261 prisoners from J&K who are currently lodged in prisons across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Out of these, 234 are in jails in UP while 27 inmates are in different prisons in Haryana, minister of state for home G. Kishan Reddy informed Parliament.

Most of the prisoners from J&K are either political activists or over ground workers of suspected outfits who have been involved in stone pelting or trying to trigger trouble in the Valley.
