Nandyal braces for impact of cyclone
Kurnool: Kurnool collector Manazir Samoon has asked officials to prepare for the severe cyclone Michaung, currently located in the south-west Bay of Bengal. He has asked for the setting up of control rooms in revenue divisional offices, ensuring round-the-clock readiness to meet emergency situations.
Considering the likelihood of heavy rainfall in the district, Samoon advised officials to implement precautionary steps, especially in vulnerable areas like Rudravaram and Allagadda.
He also asked agriculture and irrigation officials to use Rythu Bharosa Kendras to inform farmers about protective measures for their crops under cyclone conditions. He urged irrigation officials to regularly monitor water levels in reservoirs and tanks.
The collector stressed the need for ensuring access to safe drinking water, distribution of essential commodities and establishment of medical camps. Control rooms have been set up in revenue offices across the district to facilitate these efforts.
