AP NIT to provide free GATE coaching to Scheduled Castes and STs

Later, study material for free coaching was given away to the students free of cost.

Rajahmundry: AP NIT on Saturday started providing free coaching to students belonged to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering-2019 at its temporary premises at Sri Vasavi Engineering College at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari.

The AP NIT's SC/ST cell co-ordinator Dr Vinoth Kumar Raja stated that all final year students of B.E/B.Tech from AP NIT and as well as SC/ST students from other engineering colleges in West Godavari district can attend the free coaching programme, adding that they must be registered on the website of AP NIT to attend the sessions scheduled to be held on Saturdays and Sundays every week. He called upon the students, especially those from other engineering colleges, to avail the good opportunity for preparing for the GATE-2019.

AP NIT director Prof. C.S.P. Rao asked the students to get free coaching from the faculty of AP NIT and advised them to make use of the facility to find employment in public and private sector. 

Former additional chief secretary to government of Tamil Nadu Dr R. Christodas Gandhi laid stress on providing SC/ST reservation for admission to premier institutes like IIT, IIM and NIT. Later, study material for free coaching was given away to the students free of cost.
