Kerala CPM asks cadre to keep restraint
Kodiyeri rejected the police remand report on Chandran Unnithan's death in Pandalam.
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has asked party workers to maintain restraint against provocative attacks unleashed by BJP-Sangh Parivar.
BJP and RSS were hell-bent on creating law and order problem in state as they have not been able to come to terms with women entering Sabarimala temple, he said.
At a press conference, Kodiyeri said CPM local leaders have been asked to check retaliatory actions. RSS- controlled schools were being used for stocking crude bombs and arms which was witnessed in Malayankeezhu. A section of RSS was behind the planned violence and with the BJP having no control over the cadres they are going on a rampage. RSS wants to divert the attention from the message sent out by Women Wall, he said.
The CPM leader said RSS-BJP had violated the decision taken in the meeting chaired by chief minister that houses would not be targeted. He admitted that the houses of rivals too have been targeted in retaliation. "We expect the BJP state leadership to intervene and rein in the violent cadre," he said.
When asked about recent attempts to engineer communal tension in Kozhikode, the CPM leader said RSS would not succeed in implementing their North Indian strategy in Kerala. People live in harmony and they are vigilant about the attempts to vitiate peaceful atmosphere.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah's forthcoming visits to the state, Kodiyeri said they would not be able to make much impact in Kerala. "BJP lost most of the constituencies where Modi and Shah campaigned in recent state assembly elections. Their visit will only help us increase our support base," he said.
Kodiyeri rejected the police remand report on Chandran Unnithan's death in Pandalam. "It was a spontaneous violence. It was not a planned attack. Some empty-headed official has prepared the report," he said .
