Bhubaneswar: Odia television actress Laxmipriya Behera, popularly known as Nikita, died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. The actress was admitted to the hospital following a head injury on Friday night.

As per preliminary reports, the actress had gone to her father’s place at Mahanadi Vihar area where she reportedly fell off the terrace.

After collecting details from her father, mother and husband, Magistrate Ullas Kumar Sethi stated that she died due to head injury. Reports revealed that Nikita had also sustained minor injuries on her body.

However, it has not been ascertained under what circumstances she fell off the terrace.

She was reportedly admitted to a private hospital first and then shifted to SCB hospital in Cuttack. As her condition deteriorated at the SCB, her family members shifted her to the private hospital where she breathed her last.

The entire Ollywood fraternity and Odia television industry was shocked by the news.

Nikita is known for her roles in Odia movies including ‘Chori chori mana chori,’ ‘Maa ra Panatakani’ and ‘Smile Please’.

Nikita had tied the knot with Lipan Sahu of Gopalpur in Cuttack in 2016 and the couple had a six-month-old daughter. Meanwhile, the fact that she used to spend her time away from her husband at her parents’ place in Mahanadi Vihar has raised eyebrows.
