Bengaluru: Even as reports of Congress president Rahul Gandhi contesting from Bidar began doing rounds, a large section of party’s senior leaders told this newspaper that they were not aware of any such move from Mr Gandhi yet.

Speaking to DC, a senior leader  said, “Any such report is   premature. This rumour is doing the rounds ever since  Mr Gandhi addressed a rally to felicitate then newly appointed KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre on August 13. One can Google it to verify, how this rumour took wing. Two days later, on August 15, BJP state president, B. S. Yeddyurappa accused Mr Gandhi of trying to gain a foothold in Bidar in one of his press interactions in Hubballi.”
