Thiruvananthapuram: CCTV nails role of RSS man in hurling bomb
The violence at Nedumangad has subsided with the imposition of ban orders on Saturday.
Thiruvananthapuram: It was a district-level functionary of the RSS who hurled four bombs at Nedumangad police station on the hartal day on Thursday.
The CCTV footage identified him as Praveen, district pracharks of RSS at Nedumangad. He was also alleged to have hurled two bombs at a CPM rally. Praveen, originally from Nooranad in Alappuzha district, was camping in Nedumangad area for supervising the RSS activities.
Police source said that he was allegedly a culprit in a murder attempt against a shop owner.
The problems began when pro- hartal activists tried to close a private bank at Aryanad. Following this, the police arrested several RSS leaders who also destroyed the banners of the women wall at Nedumangad. In response, LDF activists attacked the BJP office at Sathram Mukku. The CPM activists then moved to the police station alleging that the BJP activists were given police protection. Later, another bomb was hurled at a CPM rally near Kacheri Nada.
