Karnataka: Kudligi DySP Anupama Shenoy yet to take charge
Officer was transferred after she kept labour minister's call on hold.
BENGALURU: Where is Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kudligi Anupama Shenoy? The lady officer, according to official sources has been incommunicado and has not reported on duty even after the government re-posted her to Kudligi in Ballari district on February 1.
Ms Shenoy was posted to Athani in Belagavi last month at the alleged behest of Labour Minister P.T. Parameshwara Naik, who wanted to teach her a lesson for keeping his call on hold. She was later sent on official duty (OOD) to Indi in Vijayapura.
Following a public outcry against the government move Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on February 1 cancelled her OOD and reinstated her to Kudligi.
“But the DySp has not reported on duty. There has there been no official communication from her. She is not even receiving calls from any of her senior officers. She is said to be at some naturopathy centre,” said an officer on condition of anonymity.
In the last week of January Ms Shenoy had sent a leave application to her immediate boss Superintendent of Police, Ballari, Chetan seeking a week’s leave, but it was not sanctioned. Before that the distraught officer, who was publicly rebuked by the Minister, had met the Director General and Inspector General of Police Om Prakash in Bengaluru, who gave her a patient hearing and counselled her.
“She was given a wide range of options; to select a posting outside Kudligi. She chose Indi and so the government sent her there on OOD, but soon after that she sent a leave letter to the SP and the range Inspector General of Police, Murugan,” the officer added.
“The absence of the DySP close to the Zilla Panchayat elections on February 20 is a matter of concern. She is a responsible officer and we hope that she assumes charge soon,” he said.
