Thiruvananthapuram: Bineesh Kodiyeri on  Monday said the civil case against Binoy was being used to target his father and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.  He said a propaganda has been unleashed by vested interests saying that Kodiyeri's children were using his influence for running their business ventures in Dubai. “This is only a business transaction between two individuals which took place outside the country. It pertains to loan taken for certain requirements. However, the matter ended in a  major controversy and civil case,” he said in a Facebook post.

Bineesh said travel ban reports had appeared initially when there was no such restriction.  At that time Binoy had clarified that the argument was over Rs 1.72 cr,  which means 1 million dirhams. Subsequently 60,000 dirhams were paid as fine following which the criminal case was scrapped.  “As per Dubai law, the opposite party has the right to file a civil case. The petition was filed on February 1 and the party demanded a travel ban. The travel ban has now been imposed following that petition. Binoy is taking legal measures on the basis of the civil case,” he said.
