Heritage ministry' only on paper

Hyderabad: The department of archaeology and museums in Telangana has been rechristened as Heritage Telangana. This was stated none other than the minister concerned and higher ups in the government a few weeks ago.
It was said that the scope of the department is widening by including streams such as culture, dance and art and hence the need to change the name.
Despite this talk which got a lot of attention, no change is seen at the state office located near Gunfoundry. Here, public are welcomed by old signboards at the entrance and even inside the office.
There is no mention of the new name-‘Heritage Telangana’ anywhere in the office. Not only signboards in the office, even the department website name has not been changed. It still shows telanganamusuems.in.
It is not that website is inactive. Photographs of events conducted by the department two weeks ago have been uploaded on the site.
The name change issue was highlighted by a few government advisors during the second international seminar organised by the department recently in the city.
Top brass in the government even suggested the Centre to take a cue from Telangana and rechristen the Archaeology Survey of India as Heritage India.
Some officials had said that gazette notification formalities were also taken care of by the government to rechristen the department here.
Government sources stated that the decision to change the name has been taken and implementation has to be done by the state office.
