Kerala bizmen spend a day in jail

Each of them paid the jail authorities Rs 500 to become temporary prisoners .

HYDERABAD: Bobby Chemmanur, chairman of the Bobby Chemmanur International Jewellers Group, and four of his associates spent a day planting trees and conducting shramdaan initiatives at the Sangareddy Jail.

Each of them paid the jail authorities Rs 500 to become “temporary prisoners”. They were given prisoner uniforms and a plate and a glass each for their one-day stay. 

Speaking to reporters, Mr Bobby said that he was very happy to spend a day in jail without having committed a crime. He said that his greatest wish of the past 15 years had been fulfilled with the help of the authorities of Sangareddy Jail and that he had had an unforgettable experience.

Mr Bobby said that he had received great appreciation for running 812 kilometres to create awareness about blood donation. 

He said that he had also received the Mother Teresa Award for his work in the area of social service.
