Bengaluru: SSLC student drowns in lake

Bengaluru: An SSLC student, who had gone for a swim with his friends, drowned in Chinnappanahalli Lake near Marathalli on Sunday. The deceased, Sunil, 16, was a student of a government school in Doddanekkundi. His father, Jai Singh, is a daily wager and the family stays in HAL.

Sunil and seven of his friends went to the lake around 12.30 pm. While everyone swam for some time and got out, Sunil was exhausted and could not reach the bund. His friends tried to rescue him but could not. “The rescue personnel of the fire and emergency department searched for his body and fished it out after a one-hour operation. We’ve booked a negligence case against BBMP and Lake Development Authority for not fencing the lake,” the police said.
