Hyderabad High Court hears plea in grace marks row
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi was hearing the petitions.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday commenced final hearing of the petitions questioning the action of the state in giving weightage marks to contract and outsourcing employees in appointments of staff nurses, civil assistant surgeons and engineers in TS Transco and also petitions supporting its decision. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi was hearing the petitions.
Mr Sarasani Satyam Reddy, senior counsel and advocate Mr Kapur appearing for the petitioners told the court that special preference to the outsourcing and contract employee would hamper the chances of direct candidates. While reminding that the SC had ordered for equal opportunities in competitive exams, they submitted that scores of unemployed are waiting for jobs and if special preference is given to contract employees, the unemployed will be deprived of job opportunities.
