Kochi: The Crime Branch special team probing the Nail salon firing case  in Kochi submitted a primary charge-sheet before the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) court, on Tuesday, naming underworld don Ravi Pujari as the sole accused.

It states that Mr Pujari tried to extort money from actress Leena Maria Paul and the attack by two bike-borne assailants was part of the attempt.

The charges against are extortion (IPC 387), intimidation (IPC 506) and conspiracy (IPC 120 B).

Senior officials with the probe team said that charge sheet was filed to initiate measures for the extradition of Mr Pujari who was arrested and lodged in a Senegal prison.

The charge sheet also mentions the two assailants who opened fire outside the salon, who are still at large.

The Central Bureau of Investigation is expected to move the extradition process based on the statements and pieces of evidence provided by Kerala and Karnataka police.

The case was transferred to crime branch early last month as the local police could make little headway in the nearly two-month-long investigation.
