Manuguru: Tension prevailed at the Congress office at Manuguru this Tuesday when Congress MLAs and the followers of the Pinapaka MLA Rega Kantha Rao, who is set to join the ruling party, decided to resolve the situation.
Congress decided to expose the two MLAs by staging dharnas against them in their constituencies as part of their protest against their decision of joining the TRS. However, hundreds of Rega Kantha Rao’s followers assembled at the party office to take on Congress MLAs Vanama Venkateswara Rao of Kothagudem, Sitakka of Mulug, and P. Veeraiah of Bhadrachalam. Former MP of Mahbubabad, P. Balaram Naik, also came to Manuguru.
The three MLAs, instead of reaching the party office, organised a dharna and visited the SCCL guest house in Manuguru. They appealed to Mr Kantha Rao to rethink about his move. Bhadradri DCC President, Vanama Venkateswara Rao, said, “Joining the TRS after being elected from the Congress is not a morally correct move”.
Pinapaka’s followers thought that the MLAs had changed their stand and left the place. Many of Rega’s followers left after completion of the legislators’ media address.
