Hyderabad: Major bus stops in the IT corridor do not have shelters, exposing commuters to the harsh weather. At Kondapur junction in the heart of the IT zone, commuters take shelter in nearby shops and hotels. The bus stop at Miyapur-Gachibowli road junction has only a small tree.

At Anjaiahnagar, which houses software professionals and middle class families, there is no shelter for the bus stop. Commuters from Siddiq-nagar have to walk nearly 1 km to reach this stop. Bus stops at Sriram-nagar near Chirec Public School, Kondapur, Kothaguda junction, near Botanical Gardens and the Heritage building also have no shelters.

MCA student K.C. Jeevan from Kondapur said there was no place for commuters to stand at the Police Battalion bus stop. “The space is occupied by parked autorickshaws and vendors," he said. RTC Hyderabad Central University depot manager A. Ravi Shanker Reddy said they had sent proposals to the GHMC. “We have covered bus shelters at HiTec City and other localities,” he said. A source in the GHMC's Serilingampally circle said that under the 100-days action plan, officials had prepared cost estimates for the bus shelters.
