Hyderabad: Haritha Hotels, the chain of budget hotels owned by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), will soon be renovated and upgraded.
There are over 40 hotels in all, and about 10 to 15 of them regularly witness a rush, especially on weekends and holidays. Managers of all the Haritha Hotels have been asked to submit a list of works to be done and facilities required at their respective hotels. Proposals are already being sent to superiors of the department.
Once all the lists are submitted, engineers will visit each of the hotels to inspect them and assess the nature of works to be carried out. High on their list of priorities are the repair of air-conditioners due to summer, the improvement of facilities in toilets and bathrooms, the equipment of hotel premises with additional CCTV cameras, the fixing of plumbing and leakage issues, the improvement of Wi-Fi access, painting, the procurement of new sofas and bedsheets, and the procurement of modern equipment to ensure that food is served hot.
B. Manohar, who recently assumed charge as the Managing Director of TSTDC, said that they wanted to upgrade facilities at the Haritha Hotels before the holiday-season rush.
“Works will start from the second week of April. We are planning to complete the task within four weeks’ time,” Mr Manohar said. Joel Sagar, an official from the TSTDC, said that they were in the process of classifying works as major and minor so that they could be scheduled. He added that landscaping and gardening on the premises of the Haritha Hotels were also on the cards, but it would be taken up at a later date.
The Haritha Hotels in Warangal, Taramati Baradari, Vikarabad, Laknavaram, Yadadri, Nizamabad, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Bhadrachalam remain considerably full during holidays and weekends.
