Telangana govt to airlift students stranded in Manipur, DGP sets up helpline

HYDERABAD: Amid the recent violence in Manipur that has left many dead, Telangana is taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of its people studying or residing in the northeastern state, including sending a special aircraft on Sunday to airlift stranded Telangana natives.

A special cell has been set up to monitor the situation and protect the interests of the Telangana people. According to the data collated, around 250 Telangana students are studying in various institutions in Imphal and surrounding areas.

The Telangana Chief Secretary has contacted their Manipur counterpart to facilitate the safe transit of Telangana students from Imphal to Hyderabad. Besides the CS, the Telangana Director General of Police is also in touch with the Manipur state government.

DGP Anjani Kumar also set up a helpline, which Telangana natives stranded in Manipur can use to seek assistance. Students can reach the DGP’s office on 7901643283, with DIG B. Sumati appointed coordinator, or email dgp@tspolice.gov.in for assistance.
