Anna canteens to be set up in Rajahmundry

State to provide food at relatively low cost to poor.

Rajahmundry: Mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai announced that Anna Canteens will be set up in the city soon. Taking part in Nava Nirmana Deeksha programme on the fourth day here on Monday, the Mayor stated that the state government was making all efforts to set up the Anna Canteens in order to provide food at  relatively low-cost to the poor. She said that the state government was making efforts to provide education and health care to people and called upon them to avail a series of welfare schemes and developmental works being initiated by the government to improve their lot.

She said that the state government was encouraging usage of solar power and added that potable drinking water was being supplied by setting up RO plants at a cost of 'two for a can of 20 litres of water. Godavari Urban Development Authority chairman Ganni Krishna asserted that the state  was committed to fulfill all its promises made at the time of elections despite facing a series of constraints including financial problems.

He said the state government was going to implement its promise of providing financial aid to unemployed youth. He asked the people to call at the no. 1100 if they find any graft to help the authorities to initiate necessary action to curb such practice.
