Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) will sign an MoU with The Energy Resource Institute (TERI) in developing green buildings in Amaravati.
Principal secretary Ajay Jain, while addressing a media conference, said talks with TERI director Sanjay Seth were successful and TERI will help to train and monitor green buildings in Amaravati.
“APCRDA and TERI will work together in ‘no loss, no profit' basis. Energy efficiency is a crucial element in constructing greenfield capital and more than 30 per cent energy will be saved with green buildings,” he said.
He said the government has decided that every construction in Amaravati should meet the standards of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBS) and TERI will support in monitoring them. “TERI has a huge experience of designing hundreds of buildings across 100 countries and its experience will be an advantage for us,” CRDA commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar said.
Andhra Pradesh Amaravati Development Corporation (APADC) chairperson Lakshmi Parthasaradhi said the APADC will take the help of TERI in developing green belts and parks in the 270-sqkm capital region.
