Telangana: Mutawalli financial power back
After the suspension, the Board appointed an officer to enquiry into the allegations against the Mutawalli.
Hyderabad: In a significant development, the Telangana State Wakf Board has reinstated the financial powers of Syed Nizamuddin Saberi, Mutawalli, Dargah Shah Khamoosh at Nampally and member of the Wakf Board.
In 2014, the special officer of the erstwhile AP Wakf Board had suspended Syed Akbar Nizamuddin, in 2014 on a complaint of Mr. M.K. Hasan for alleged misappropriation and mismanagement of the Dargah and also for allegedly selling 85 acres of wakf land.
After the suspension, the Board appointed an officer to enquiry into the allegations against the Mutawalli. The official submitted its enquiry report to the Board.
While an inquiry is pending against Akbar Nizamuddin, he got elected as a board member in the category of Mutawallis in the election held in January 2017 for the executive committee of the newly constituted Telangana State Wakf Board with the support of MIM.
The executive committee of the Board which met on May 23, 2017 unanimously passed a resolution reinstating the financial powers of Mutawalli in view of the decision of the then special officer of the board revoking the suspension of the Mutawalli pending denova inquiry.
The Board noted that the denova inquiry was not completed in the three months of time prescribed under the Wakf Act and there was no provision under the Act that the Mutawalli shall function without financial powers. Therefore the Board has resolved to reinstate the powers of the Mutawalli.
