Green Award' for Thanjavur collector

Thanjavur: The ‘Green Award for the year 2017’, given for environment protection by Tamil Nadu government has gone to Shri. A. Annadurai, Thanjavur district collector.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Shri. Edappadi K. Palaniswami presented the award to Annadurai on Monday at the secretariat at Chennai.

Shri. Dindigul Srinivasan, minister for Forests was present on the occasion. The award was instituted by former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa to encourage district collectors to take steps to protect environment as the Constitution’s article 48 stipulates that protection of environment is state government’s duty and responsibility.
