Hyderabad High Court seeks report on appointment of 550 persons

Satyam Reddy submitted that the appointments were made without issuing the notification inviting the applications.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the Telangana government to submit the records regarding the approval of appointment of 550 persons as artists on nomination by the Telangana Samskruthika Samiti.

A division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi was dealing with a PIL by Jukanti Ramesh and two others challenging the government’s action.

Sarasani Satyam Reddy, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner, submitted that the Samiti had taken 550 persons into government service on a nomination basis and the state government had approved the appointments on February 2, 2015 with Rs 24,514 as salary.

Satyam Reddy submitted that the appointments were made without issuing the notification inviting the applications.

The bench, after perusing the counter affidavit filed by the state government, directed the Principal Secretary of Youth, Tourism and Cultural Affairs department, Director of Cultural Affairs and Member Secretary to the Cultural Affairs to place the records pertaining to the appointments before it.
