Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday granted four weeks to the Telangana government for filing a counter affidavit on a PIL filed by Kodangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy, seeking to register a case against state ministers for collecting funds from public for the TRS plenary in the name of Gulabi Coolies.

Justice A Rajasheker Reddy was dealing with the petition of the MLA seeking to declare inaction of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau in this case despite of his complaint as illegal.

Mr C.V. Mohan Reddy, senior counsel, appearing for the petitioner submitted that though it was difficult for a daily wage worker to earn for Rs 500 in for his day long work, the ministers have earned lakhs of rupees in just 10 minutes by selling tea, ice cream and snacks.

Referring to the Supreme Court judgement in the Lalith Kumari case, the senior counsel contended that it was mandatory on the part of the ACB to register the case whenever a complaint was lodged with evidence, but in this case the ACB had acted contrary to the law.

Refuting the contention of the senior counsel that ACB is not acting independently, Mr S, Sharath Kumar, the counsel for the government, said though the petitioner had made severe allegations against ministers, he had not made them parties to the petition. Stating that the petition was not maintainable, he urged the court to grant time to file the counter-affidavit.
