Bengaluru: Putting up a brave front in the case where Mysuru deputy commissioner Shikha had lodging a complaint against Chief Minister Mr Siddaramaiah's close associate Mr Mari Gowda, the Chief Minsiter distanced himself from Mr Gowda.

“He is our party worker and I am close to every party worker,'” he said in the Legislative Council on Tuesday. Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar brought up the issue during zero hour and said that he wanted a statement from the Chief Minister regarding the incident as well as the police action taken.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Mr C.T. Ravi intervened and said media reports had suggested that the incident had taken place in front of the Chief Minister and the person concerned was his close associate. Besides, Mr Siddaramaiah himself had tried to hush up the incident, he claimed.

Irked by the remarks, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that neither was Mr Gowda his close associate, nor had he tried to interfere in the functioning of the police. “A complaint has been registered with the Nazarbad police who are investigating. Due action will be taken against him.”
