Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said the government would form green brigades to protect saplings that will be planted in the third phase of Haritha Haram starting on July 2. Mr Rao will launch the programme at Karimnagar, where 1 lakh saplings will be planted in 15 days. “For digging the pits, setting up tree guards and planting the saplings, the required 25,000 persons should be organised,” he said after a review meeting.

“At the time of planting the saplings, sirens in mosques should be played. The moment the siren is heard, start planting the saplings,” he said. He told officials to form green brigades comprising students, women and employees in each of the 50 divisions in Karimnagar.
