The Telangana 'Wakf Board' to develop 11 prime Wakf assets with own funds
The Board decided that it would instead develop these 11 prime properties with its own funds.
Hyderabad: The TS Wakf Board on Wednesday decided against giving prime Wakf properties in the state to private parties to Build, Operate and Transfer by inviting global tenders. The Board decided that it would instead develop these 11 prime properties with its own funds.
Earlier, the Wakf Board had sought permission of the state government to develop these 11 properties in the Hyderabad under BOT mode by inviting global tenders. The TS government granted the Board permission to do so about a year.
However, with several influential persons lobbying with the government to take over these properties, the managing committee of the Board that met on Wednesday resolved to develop the properties with the Board’s own funds.
Accordingly, the Board will engage an architect to prepare plans for development of these 11 properties and meet the Chief Minister with the blueprint seeking additional funds and permission to develop the properties.
A meeting will be held on July 20 to approve the plans submitted by the architect.
Wakf Board chairman Mohd. Saleem said that the Board also resolved to request the government to withdraw its claim before the Supreme Court over Lanco Hills, as both the Wakf Tribunal and the Hyderabad High Court has ruled that the land belongs to Dargah Hussain Shah Vali Wakf.
Besides, the Board also resolved to take institutions belonging to Anwar-ul-Uloom Educational Society under its direct control as per the orders of the court.
A five-member team will be constituted to run these educational institutions.
