Salem: Youth murdered, body abandoned near Mettur

Salem: The body of a 20-year-old youth with serious cut injuries on his head was found abandoned in the bushes in Desai Nagar area near Mettur early on Friday.

Police said the deceased Harishiva, who works as a welder, was addicted to liquor and had on Thursday evening went for a haircut but did not return even till late last night.

 Early this morning, his body was found dead which police suspect to be a case of gruesome murder.

On information, police rushed to the spot, retrieved the body and sent it to Mettur government hospital for post-mortem. Karumalaikoodal police have registered a case and are investigating what could be a case of drunken fight. The incident has sent shock waves among the people of the area.
