Hyderabad: Falaknuma railway station to get LED lights
Several trains arrive at the station past midnight or early hour in the morning when it is still dark.
Hyderabad: Absence of streetlighting on the 1-km stretch from Falaknuma railway station to Chandrayangutta has become a cause for worry.
The uneven pothole riddled road turns pitch dark at night. “Fear of anti socials targeting us makes us nervous. Though cops patrol the stretch, they are not there always,” said Mr Mohammed Fakhruddin, a private employee and a resident of Hashamabad.
The thick vegetation on either side of the road makes matters worse. For the fear of being harassed, women avoid local train services after dark. “After 8 pm you would not find any women using the stretch,” said Mr Abdullah Nambair, a private Ayurvedic doctor from Al Jubail Colony.
Several trains arrive at the station past midnight or early hour in the morning when it is still dark. “We are forced to walk on the platform and the railway tracks where there is some light to reach the main road. Otherwise, we cannot risk walking through the dark road,” said Mr K. Chandrasekhar, a merchant from Keshavagiri.
When contacted GHMC commissioner, South Zone, Srinivasa Reddy said that the corporation was installing new LED lights, and the Falaknuma railway station stretch would get them as well.
