Hyderabad: Two transport 842 kg ganja, nabbed by DI

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Intelligence officials on Sunday caught two persons and seized 842 kg cannabis from them. According to the officials, the duo were smuggling the contraband an Eicher cargo truck, when they were stopped at National Highway 16 Enikepadu in Vijayawada, AP.

“After checks, it was found that about 842.72 Kg of cannabis, a narcotic drug under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 was found packed in 397 High-density polyethylene (HDPE) sacks. The ganja was placed on a specially made rectangular compartment on top of the cargo vehicle and a black coloured tarpaulin was tied to cover the false top,” the officials said.

The ganja was loaded onto the vehicle at Narsipatnam and was headed to Ahmednagar of Maharashtra. The value of the seized ganja would be around Rs 1,26,40,800. The officers also seized the vehicle used for concealing and transporting the contraband. Two persons have been arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985.
