Hyderabad: Four held for duping elderly, grabbing land worth Rs 1 crore

Hyderabad: Four persons who grabbed a piece of land worth Rs 1 crore from a woman hailing from Vemulawada, have been apprehended by the Special Operations Teams of Rachakonda on Sunday. The police found that the gang had also grabbed another land at Abdullapurmet worth Rs 60 lakh, by forging documents and claiming to be owners of the plots.
According to SOT Additional DCP Syed Rafeeq, Vijaya Kumari of Vemulawada owns a 320 sq yards plot at Kanmaguda in Abdullapurmet. Joseph Reddy of Kanmaguda and Pradeep Reddy of Devaruppal in Warangal identified that the land's value is high and two persons hatched a plan to grab the land worth '1 crore.
The duo approached Kumari’s relative Mariamma, lured her with a commission and created forged identity proofs. They got 160 sq yards registered on the name of Sunita Reddy, Pradeep’s wife and another half on Joseph's name. They brought two persons, Indra Swamy and Brahmayya as witnesses during the illegal registration.
In another instance, Pradeep grabbed the 200 sq yards land worth Rs 60 lakh of one Shyam Rao located at Kanmaguda, with the help of an advocate Sudhakar Reddy and two others Shree Ram Reddy and Ravi Reddy.
Based on the complaints, two cases were registered by the SOT LB Nagar, said the official, adding that Pradeep, Joseph, Indra and Shree Ram were arrested on Sunday, while efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
He asked the public to report if Pradeep and Joseph have made any such dealings earlier.
