Kommepalli farmers seek compensation from SCCL

Khammam: After the residents of Kommepalli village in Sattupalli mandal were displaced by the Singareni Collierie Company Limited (SCCL), the firm is using all means to avoid paying compensation for their lands and the rehabilitation package to them.

The spreading  of JVR-OC-2 (open cast mine) is creating havoc and the OC mine expansion is very close to the village. It is planned to destroy the present road from Kistaram to Kommepalli as part of OC expansion. Some of the farmers approached High Court for compensation and the court directed SCCL to pay Rs 10.95 lakh per acre.

along with 18 per cent interest from 2016. It also asked the Company to pay the amount before June 30, 2018. So far, the amount is not paid to the farmers of Kommepalli, who are losing 236 acres under it.
