Young engineers vie for honours in kart designing

BFKCT provides a platform to budding young engineers to translate their innovative ideas into reality.

Coimbatore: A total of 63 teams of young engineers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh participated in the three-day Bharath Formula Karting Championship (BFKC) organised by Cadd Technologies, Coimbatore, at the Kari Motor Speedway between Thursday and Saturday. 

One of the organisers stated that motto of this event is to help young engineers gain experience in aspects like design, analysis, documentation and manufacturing of ‘kart’.

“BFKCT provides a platform to budding young engineers to translate their innovative ideas into reality. It is a forum which encourages the team members to undergo the literature survey before the designing and manufacturing the ‘kart’. Participating teams were advised to fabricate the kart with experts and faculty advisor’s suggestion, however, they were not involved in physically fabricating the kart.” the source said.

The contest was organised in two stages: first was the design validation stage also, known as the virtual round, and second the champion round which included the static, dynamic and endurance test. As part of the competition, participating teams exhibited their innovation and new finding allied with rule book. At the end of the contest, BFKCT recognised the team building activity and individual talent and gave away more than 18 awards in different categories.

Prize money amounting to Rs 15 lakh was given away to winners. The team from Kolhapur Institute of Technology, Kolhapur, Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) Coimbatore, and SVS College of Engineering, Coimbatore, were declared first, second and third winners in the overall championship category.
