Minister accepts leadership award for KCR

Hyderabad: Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy received the Agriculture Leadership Award instituted by Indian Council of Food and Agriculture on behalf of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday. 

ICFA had announced the award to the Chief Minister, but Mr Rao, though present in New Delhi, could not attend the function and directed Mr Reddy to receive it on his behalf. 

Chief Minister had been advised rest by doctors at a private hospital who will perform a minor surgery to his left eye on Wednesday morning in Delhi. 

Mr Rao has been in Delhi since September 1. Mr Reddy, after receiving the award, said TS has been progressing well on the agricultural front only due to revolutionary initiatives taken by Mr Rao over the last three years. He cited many programmes and policies of the government, especially the Rs 8,000 per acre per year special assistance from next year to every eligible farmer in the state. 

He also said several initiatives taken by the CM will create irrigation potential in one crore acres in the coming few years.
