Hyderabad: Mosquito menace at Tolichowki
The Quba colony, Al Hasnath colony, Gulshan colony, Samtha colony, Golconda fort area and MD Lines are the areas that are worst-affected.
Hyderabad: Residents of Tolichowki a cluster of several neighbourhoods are agitated over the growing mosquito menace. They attribute the problem to the failure of the GHMC officials in properly clearing the water bodies in and around the area.
Around 30 colonies together form the Tolichowki area on the western side of the city that shares its topography with the world famous Golconda Fort and Qutb Shahi Tombs.
Syed Khaleel Ahmed, a businessman and a resident of Nadeem colony said that during the evening, the problem was acute with swarms of mosquitoes descending on houses and ‘attacking’ people. “A lot of money is being spent on buying mosquito repellents,” he complained.
Another local resident Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin alias Muneer, said there were no dedicated drainage lines in several colonies in Tolichowki and as a result, the household waste lines are connected to stormwater drains. The Quba colony, Al Hasnath colony, Gulshan colony, Samtha colony, Golconda fort area and MD Lines are the areas that are worst-affected.
