Kerala: VJ’s FB group distributes cattlefeed to flood victims
The Facebook group run by fans of the actress and video jockey Pearle Maaney distributed them to Kurumani village near Kalpetta, Wayanad.
KOZHIKODE: A social media group made good use of a Kerala Feeds Limited (KFL) initiative by distributing 100 sacks of cattle feed to flood-affected dairy farmers through its Snehasparsham relief project, a release from the PSU said.
The Facebook group run by fans of the actress and video jockey Pearle Maaney distributed them to Kurumani village near Kalpetta, Wayanad.
The FB group with 8,000 members took the decision after rugged Kurumani was cut off following heavy monsoon rains last month. The villagers are primarily into dairy farming, prompting the FB group to go for distribution of cattle feed in tie-up with Kerala Feeds Limited, organisers said.
"We are happy that quite a few farmers have benefited from 'Snehasparsham', an initiative of the FB group," it quoted Dr B Sreekumar of Kerala Feeds as saying.
"The project is proving to be viable also for the public that is interested in helping dairy farmers."
At Tuesday's function in St Sebastian's Church in Kuruman, Padinjarethara panchayat president Naushad M P distributed the feed. St Sebastian's Church Vicar Fr Sebastian Puthen and panchayat member Harris C E took part in the function that was attended by members of the FB group.
