Women benefited most from Mudra loans: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

Over 55 per cent of the beneficiaries are from the SC, ST, OBC and minority categories, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

Hyderabad: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union minority affairs minister, on Thursday said that under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), the Centre has disbursed over Rs 3.50 lakh crore loans to 9.13 crore beneficiaries which created over 5.50 crore jobs.

Addressing traders, industry representatives and leaders from the social sector in Hyderabad as part of the PMMY promotion, Mr Naqvi said that women comprised 76 per cent of total beneficiaries. Over 55 per cent of the beneficiaries are from the SC, ST, OBC and minority categories, he said.

Under this scheme, a loan up to Rs 50,000 under the Shishu category; Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh under the Kishor category and Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under Tarun category is given by the Centre.

“Today, India has be-come one of the strongest investment destinations in the world. During the last three years, the NDA government has strengthened the economy. Growth rate has been above 7 per cent,” Mr Naqvi said. 

He also said that the demonetisation has started giving good results.

TS finance minister Etala Rajender said nearly Rs 3,750 crore has be-en disbursed in TS under Mudra scheme so far.
