Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment residents are upset that neither officials nor elected representatives are trying to address the issue of closure of roads by the Local Military Authority that is affecting lakhs of commuters travelling daily to different parts of the city.
That the issue did not figure in the recent board meeting has also left them agitated and they want to take up the matter with defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Mr S. Chandrashekar of Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads (OSCAR) said that the closure of roads and developing alternative solutions were not on agenda on board members at all.
“We would seek an audience with the defence minister to appraise her of irregularities and misuse of power by the Army establishment and the Cantonment Board in closing roads in SCB limits. We want a CBI probe on the issue and wrongdoers be punished,” he said.
Mr C.S. Chandrashekar of Green Sainikpuri stated that the Cantonment Board had held a special meeting to discuss on toll tax issue, but it had no time to discuss the roads issue and provide relief to thousands of residents.
