Telangana: Ex-sarpanches on government's spotlight
Retired IAS officer SK Sinha has recommended that criminal cases be filed against some of the former sarpanches.
Hyderabad: Since illegal approvals were being issued for a long time, the government is looking at the guilty of former sarpanches in issuing such approvals for layouts in Rangareddy and Medchal districts. A Revenue Task Force chaired by the retired IAS officer S K Sinha has recommended that criminal cases be filed against some of the former sarpanches in undivided Medak and Ranga Reddy districts.
Recently, Medchal district collector M. V. Reddy suspended three sarpanches on similar charges and took action against the sarpanch of Nizampet for issuing approvals illegally for Bandari Layout and Dharani Nagar, which are inundated whenever it rains heavily. Both the Ranga Reddy and Medchal administrations are also taking severe action, including suspension, of sarpanches found violating rules and misusing funds.
