CCB arrests Bengaluru Blasters cricketer

Bengaluru: A day after look out circulars were issued against two bookies for their alleged involvement in betting and fixing the Karnataka Premier League cricket matches, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested another KPL player for alleged match fixing.

The police arrested Bengaluru Blasters player Nishant Singh Shekhawat after his name came up while the police interrogated the team’s bowling coach Vinu Prasad and opening batsman M Vishwanathan who were arrested on October 25.

The CCB sleuths summoned Shekhawat  and after his role was established, he was taken into custody by the police. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said it was Shekhawat who introduced Vishwanathan and Prasad to a Chandigarh-based bookie Manoj Kumar alias Monty.
